Last week I had my FIRST author interview on A Book, A Girl, A Journey by @J_A_Bennett. This Friday will be my first ever review, from the amazing @SusiBorath on her blog. I'm hoping my friends and I can kill her traffic numbers for the day. We did it for @J_A_Bennett! We can do it for @SusiBorath!
So let's talk some shop. :) Anyone out there have a FREE book as about the extent of their marketing plan? Yeah. I know how you feel. Back when I was writing CANCELLED I thought, erroneously, that I would just give coupons, tell people my book is FREE and Wham! Bam! I'd have sales coming in hand over fist. Well, we all know I can freely admit when I was wrong....
And I was. Giving away a FREE book is tough, almost as tough as getting sales. Almost. When I offered my book for FREE on Twitter, no takers. It wasn't until I paired the free promotion with my author interview that finally readers were biting. In 48 hours last week, I went from only 17 sales, and presumably readers, to 114 readers with the free downloads! To date, I have sold 26 books, given 114 away to readers, and about a dozen to reviewers and other authors. That's a potential readership of about 150 people. That's a VERY big difference from the thirty or so people who had read my book before.
And since my author interview, I have sold at least one copy per day. :) AND I got my first review coming on Friday. AND I got another Amazon review from @Fbrown906 who gave me 5-stars (a little generous to me) and she Tweeted: Stayed up until almost 1 a.m. reading Cancelled by
All in all I am NOT upset to see 114 copies go out the door for free. Those aren't lost sales. They are the cheapest marketing I could do. :)
Other news coming up is the Trick or Treat for Ebooks. Please, if you are an author with a book, consider joining us. It's going to be a fun blog hop for readers the last week of October. For more information, please visit http://ebookpromotions.blogspot.com or email me for more information! We're up to 12 authors, and I'd love to have at least 15 before September 30th so I can approach other places with help to promote it.
Finally, thanks to my mentor, @Melissa_Foster I am not only part of her book launch for COME BACK TO ME Nov. 1-3rd (where 30 authors are banding together to offer books for $.99), but we shed that ill-fitting genre tag of contemporary romance. I write contemporary fiction with spice. :) This has made the outline for Book 2 suddenly mature and I can't wait to start writing it next month!
Time to Share: How did your free promotions go? Or how is your free book doing? We can all learn from each other.
A robotics engineer asks his business partner to marry him, but a previous one-night stand is having his baby. CANCELLED is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Smashwords. WIP: PAST DUE A nurse, crippled by debt, takes a part-time job in medical investigation only to find the man she's dating is a fraud! (status: outlining)
That is so awesome! I was happy to be part of the whole experience and I can't wait to read your book!
